I stayed at Hotel Bijou for a brief visit, and it had its highs and lows. The vintage charm and friendly staff were definite highlights, but I found the area around the hotel a bit daunting, especially at night. While the room was tidy and had some modern touches, the lack of air conditioning was a drawback.
Rooms

My room was recently decorated and had decent size, but the lighting was quite poor. only one lamp made the space feel dim. There was also no safe in the room, which was something I missed.
Service

The front desk staff were very nice. they even offered complimentary drinks at the bar due to some delays. However, the check-in process felt a bit slow when I arrived.
Location

The hotel is right on the outskirts of the Tenderloin. which makes the surroundings a little intimidating, especially with the presence of homelessness and rowdy bars nearby. I didn't feel very safe walking around at night, which was concerning.
Dining

The breakfast options were quite limited. it mostly consisted of muffins, fruit, and yogurt. It was nice to have something, though a more varied selection would have been appreciated.
Facilities

I enjoyed the unique vintage vibe of the hotel, and the complimentary welcome drink was a nice touch. the shower in my bathroom was pretty good and the place felt secure.

My stay at Hotel Bijou was a mixed experience. The location near Union Square was fantastic for exploring the city, but I found the area a bit concerning due to the homeless presence and noise from outside. While the room was clean and the staff extremely friendly, the absence of air conditioning and the compact space made it a bit uncomfortable at times. Overall, I appreciated the budget-friendly breakfast option, though it was quite basic. 🌆😌

However, the noise levels were a drawback, and the amenities left something to be desired. Overall, I appreciated the vintage atmosphere but felt there were areas that could improve.

While I enjoyed the bar atmosphere on the first night, dining there on my second night was disappointing. The restaurant was quite cold, and the service wasn't up to par, which detracted from the meal experience.
