I stayed at Hotel Bijou for a brief visit, and it had its highs and lows. The vintage charm and friendly staff were definite highlights, but I found the area around the hotel a bit daunting, especially at night. While the room was tidy and had some modern touches, the lack of air conditioning was a drawback.

Rooms
6.0
My room was recently decorated and had decent size, but the lighting was quite poor. only one lamp made the space feel dim. There was also no safe in the room, which was something I missed.
Service
6.0
The front desk staff were very nice. they even offered complimentary drinks at the bar due to some delays. However, the check-in process felt a bit slow when I arrived.
Location
5.0
The hotel is right on the outskirts of the Tenderloin. which makes the surroundings a little intimidating, especially with the presence of homelessness and rowdy bars nearby. I didn't feel very safe walking around at night, which was concerning.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast options were quite limited. it mostly consisted of muffins, fruit, and yogurt. It was nice to have something, though a more varied selection would have been appreciated.
Facilities

I enjoyed the unique vintage vibe of the hotel, and the complimentary welcome drink was a nice touch. the shower in my bathroom was pretty good and the place felt secure.

My stay at Hotel Bijou was a mixed experience. The location near Union Square was fantastic for exploring the city, but I found the area a bit concerning due to the homeless presence and noise from outside. While the room was clean and the staff extremely friendly, the absence of air conditioning and the compact space made it a bit uncomfortable at times. Overall, I appreciated the budget-friendly breakfast option, though it was quite basic. 🌆😌

My stay at Hotel Bijou was a mixed experience. The boutique charm combined with a convenient location was a significant plus. However, the noise levels were a drawback, and the amenities left something to be desired. Overall, I appreciated the vintage atmosphere but felt there were areas that could improve.

Rooms

The room was compact and clean with a comfortable mattress, but it felt a bit dated. I had limited access to one side of the bed, which was somewhat cramped.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly and helpful, providing me with a complimentary drink at the bar, which was nice. However, service in the restaurant was indifferent, and I felt their attentiveness could improve.
Location

The location is excellent, just steps away from Union Square and public transport options like cable cars and trams. However, I was uncomfortable with the number of homeless people around the area, especially at night.
Dining
5.0
While I enjoyed the bar atmosphere on the first night, dining there on my second night was disappointing. The restaurant was quite cold, and the service wasn't up to par, which detracted from the meal experience.

The hotel provided free Wi-Fi and coffee, which was a nice touch. However, the absence of air conditioning made the warm nights quite uncomfortable, and the noise from street cleaning was disruptive.

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Bijou. While the location near Union Square was incredibly convenient for exploring the city, the overall area felt unsafe, especially at night. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but my check-in was slow and the breakfast options left much to be desired.

Rooms

The room was compact but functional, featuring good quality furnishings and comfortable bedding. It was easy to navigate despite its smaller size. However, I found it frustrating that some facilities were under renovation, which impacted my overall impression.
Service

I found the staff to be kind and attentive, always willing to help, but the check-in process took longer than I anticipated, which dampened my initial impression.
Location

The hotel's location was a significant plus, being just a short walk to public transport and Union Square, although being in the Tenderloin made me feel uneasy due to the visible homelessness and occasional disruptions outside.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was rather disappointing with limited options like muffins and yogurt. While the coffee was enjoyable, I had expected more variety for the price I paid.
Facilities

The ambiance of the hotel was charming with its vintage art deco feel, but ongoing renovations in the bar area somewhat marred the experience.

My stay at Hotel Bijou was quite mixed. While the location offered easy access to Union Square, I often felt uneasy due to the surroundings. The vintage charm of the hotel added a unique touch, but the amenities and breakfast options left me wanting. Overall, it suited my budget, but I’d consider other options for my next visit.

Rooms
5.0
The room was compact but functional, fitting my needs for the duration of my stay. However, the bed size was smaller than expected, which made it a bit cramped.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially when I requested a late checkout. However, the service felt a bit tepid upon arrival, which was frustrating after a long journey.
Location
5.0
The hotel is centrally located, close to Union Square, but the area felt unsafe, especially after dark. It certainly heightened my anxiety while walking around.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was basic—just muffins, yogurt, and apples, which was underwhelming for an extended stay. The coffee was decent, though.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel had a vintage aesthetic and provided earplugs due to noise concerns, the renovations at the bar and restaurant made it feel incomplete.
